So sad.......just sold my first handgun I ever owned a couple nights ago. Even though it had become a safe queen, I had a hard time putting it on the EE. I delayed it for months and months and months. It was my Colt Combat Elite. Even though I knew this day would come, I have mixed feelings about this one. Sold other guns before, but nothing stings like having to sell your first. I remember the day I received it from postman like it was yesterday. I acted cool and reserved signing for it, as soon as I closed the door, I jumped up and down and cheered like a 10 year old boy at christmas time. Spent the entire evening fondling her and polishing her gorgeous deep blued slide. Wow, what a memory!

Here she is, mine for the last few days, before transfer is approved.

Congrats to the lucky cgn'r that bought it. She shoots just as beautiful as she looks.

And now you can take a bit of pride in knowing first hand, the anticipation and the joy she will bring her new owner. :)
Something that beautiful reminds me of a quote from Shawshank "Some birds feathers are just too bright to be caged".

Sorry got a little emotional and nostalgic myself, I did the same not two years ago and fully understand!
Glad she gave you great memories, after all "we can't take it with us".

I have never sold one of my herd. One day I will and it`s going to hurt . I hope one of the kids will take an interest.
If not the EE will have a field day. Anyway......

I know the feeling, I have a S&W 645 that I think I should sell every now and then. I have made it to the point of taking pictures but just can't post an EE add. lol

I know the feeling I had sold my first beretta to a buddy I was so mad at myself I bought another one but it wasnt the same so I traded him the brand new one for my old one.

This is why you should think long and hard before buying your first gun. Make sure it's something that you're going to want to keep. Selling my first pistol would be like selling my first child.

Sold my first hand gun no problem, had only bought it cause it was cheap.
Now my real attachment is to my first glock, it was bought used here on cgn, but took my bob course with it, and since I've gotten it I have probably put almost 3000 rounds thru, with only 2 failures, both the Ammo's fault.
This is the gun that has really gotten me more focused and enjoying pistol shooting.
Look at it and think if all the range trips with dad, all the rounds of practice, my first time shooting pistol at 50yards, and I think if rather turn it into a dewat and get it bronzed than sell it lol

If I find myself wondering if I should sell a handgun, then I take it to the range. Put 100 rounds through it and if I still want to sell it, goodbye. This has convinced me one way or the other a few times now. My ugliest pistol is the one I can't sell as it shoots so great. G34. I have moved rifles that are safe queens also. I wish I had the money to buy them all and keep them but I don't. So little time so many guns

It was my first ever firearm after all, and a 1911 nonetheless!
It's more like a light surface scuff, could only be seen at certain angles. Definitely would be able to polish out by someone who knows what they're doing. Just not me. I've seen a lot worse "scratches" as you put it.

Minus the little scratch under the slide stop.... :p

I also sold my first handgun and didnt really regret it too much. It was a nice SR40 but I bought a #####in .357 wheel and havent looked back since. I will keep the revolver forever.

Sorry to say MPower, but you should have kept your pistol......you will regret selling it later......I have sold firearms in the past , and have always regretted it later , now when i buy a new gun....it is mine for life....the joy of ownership.....
