SOLD OUT: TYPE 81 SPECIAL EDITION -Shipment 2-

I just received my rifles and accessories from the Post Office. Gonna get it cleaned up and hopefully to the range this weekend for a baptism by spam can. So far my copy looks pretty good, there's a few spots on the furniture that could have used a little more care and attention but it is a chicom rifle so fit and finish isn't a priority (The phosphate finish does look good though!). The real test will be in how it performs on the range, not expecting a high level of accuracy but for $1200 it should be on par with my SKS.

Congrats! Post pictures please!

Just got finished putting it back together. Had a bit of a setback; I accidentally dissembled the recoil spring assembly while trying to clean it. The spring is pretty strong and the rod is three pieces and collapses like a baton, so it was quite difficult to compress the spring while keeping the rod extended. So first piece of advice I can give is don't disassemble the recoil spring assembly! :)

Here's the rifle;

and here is the images everyone is most interested in, the Optics Ready pins;

The pins come with some caps to protect them from damage. They are just soft rubber-like material and probably just meant to be used during storage and shipping, I'm not sure if they would stay on during actual use of the rifle. Maybe some electrical tape would do the trick if you want to run iron sights.

Also I'd recommend your clean your barrel, mine was quite dirty and full of packing grease and what-not; Interestingly the rest of the rifle was not that heavily caked in grease or any preservative. I was expecting a pretty heavy coating considering how most guns from China arrive out of the box covered in cosmoline or some other preservative.

I'm going to try putting my mount on later tonight, I'll post in the thread with anything interesting that comes up during that process. I'm pretty excited to get it to the range and put the rifle through it's paces. Overall my first impressions are positive, action seems smooth and feels like it will get smoother with use. The trigger is decent, but the reset feels like it will take getting used to. I've heard complaints about the cheek weld on the fixed stock version but I don't seem to have the "eye-socket weld" described by others.

Hope everybody gets their rifles soon.

Thanks! So with the Mount - Kobra Sight I won't see those pin, right?

Correct, they thread into the side mount plate that stays on the side of the rifle. The Kobra site on its arm then slide onto the side rail, and lock into place when the lever is adjusted and locked into place.

Great to see the first of shipment two arriving!
