Hey there fellow CGN'rs,
So after I saw the new shipment Tactical imports brought in, I took another look at my Famae SG 540.
One issue (besides the iron sights) that really bugged my was the wobble and movement on the front plastic handguards.
I had tried to use different types of gorilla / duct tape, double sided mount tape to try and eliminate the movement, but they didn't work all that well.
What I found worked really well is a Magpul ladder style rail cover that I had cut up.

As you can see in the pictures I just cut 2 sections of the "ladder" off into 2 parts. The first is like a T with an inverted Y shape but with 2 legs. Each leg is cut slightly at the inside bottom to make an angle (done to help insert around the barrel) Length of that piece is about 18mm on mine.
The second smaller piece is about 14mm long.
The larger piece is wedged in the handguard / upper receiver gap and shoved down. On mine I used the indent on the scope mount to secure it into position so that it wouldn't pop out.

The smaller magpul ladder rail piece went where the front takedown pin slides into on the bottom plastic handguard.
NOTE: The magpul rail cover sides (not the rungs) are slightly curved on one side and fit that curved side against the handguard slot so the straight edge faces towards you.

It wasn't too bad to shim into position but you might need to hold the rifle slightly downwards when assembly and ensure the bottom handguard is fully slid forwards when reinserting the takedown pin.
I choose not to use glue, but that would ensure that little piece doesn't become lost when dissembling / reassembling.
And voila! The handguard wobble has been pretty much eliminated for me. I haven't tried this yet at the range but looking forwards to it. It seems like it will hold up.
All the best!
