Solution: Famae SG 540 handguard wobble

Range update: handguards and magpul rail sections did their job and stayed in place! Little to no wobble.
If you look at this rifle, there seems to be a stamped retainer at the front of the handguard holding it tight without a gap. Luckily it's a different colour and easy to see.
My rifle doesn't have that, it's just the handguard into the gas block. Not many of the famae's I've seen have it.

That's called a forend shim. It's made of rubber. They came installed on the Tan versions. Haven't seen them on others. The rubber shim rips with use and needs to be superglued back together every few hundred rounds. Shim looks good as new after gluing any rips.
My Green SG 543 had the Rubber Gasket at the front of the plastic Handguard. It tore and pretty much disintegrated, LoL! I replaced it with some Green military "Guntape" and it both looks and performs well in lieu of the Rubber Gasket.
