Oh right, hunting rifles are a fashion accessory....carry on.
Upscale savages! I have a savage american 114 with a stainless barrel and a nice would stock, looks better then a cooper to me
The original question was why a savage over other entry level rifles? The model 10-16 savages can get a person more performance per dollar than any other rifle period. You will not produce consistent results like I've shown with a Ruger american or Tikka T3 lite for the same investment.
I have Browning, Winchester, Kimber rifles, so I know and like other rifles. I just love the response I get when I post about Savages.
It isn't anti savage.... but, I can post a group almost as good from a handi rifle..... shot form 100 yards in the prone off of my backpack.....
Handi rifles are great. Hard to put an aftermarket barrel on though, and have nothing to do with the thread.
How many coopers do you own?
none I don't like them
How many have you tried? (Coopers don't feel right to me either FYI).....
Shouldered? A couple there arent that many around and gun shop owners are a little tired of the general public dinging them up. How many have I fired? None, but being 6'6" most rifles feel the same to me, I make myself suit them instead of finding a gun that suits me
By the way I have and have had lots of guns, remmingtoms brownings, thompsons, sakos, tikkas, winchesters, CZs, marlins and savages.
I appreciate Savages but then I have always been a function over form kind of guy, give me a Savage that shoots sub moa all day over a cooper that shoots minute of barn door anyday
I couldn't agree with you more...... But I lack confidence in the function.... Long term.... Savage will never convince me of that ..... What shoots MOA day one will never impress me if the action is sloppy and the fit and finish is poor..... Because I know it will not shoot MOA down the road..... Because cutting corners in one area on your high end rifles likely means you did it elsewhere....
They are great for what they are....

Lets get this straight, you really believe that savage rifles will lose accuracy over time because they have a sloppy bolt! Bwahahahahaha!!!!
the fact that you call the action sloppy tells me you know nothing about savages, the bolt is not meant to be "tight" until it is locked up because you know what? It doesn't matter how tight the bolt slides back and forth but how true the bolt face locks up to the chamber and that is the real secret to savages, that and the ability to manufacture economic barrels that are true
