Solved: Remington 1187 Tactical Feeder - Thanks to elimsprint and Arwen_ace

I bought my 1187 back in October when I knew a lot less about shotguns, and therefore didn't know this was a problem. I found out that the feeder shouldn't stick out like it does and should sit flush. Can someone tell me how/if I can fix this myself?

It springs back out again.
I've shot it, the semi-auto action didn't work but I just fixed that because it was missing the graphite piston seal. (I really should have researched more before buying I know) I'm worried that the feeder as-is will also prevent the action working properly, but I haven't test fired with the seal to know for sure.
 
Well, I'm not a smith, but I would say it is bent. I just took my trigger assembly out of my 11-87 and I don't see how it is possible for it to stick down like that without being bent. It should stop and rest on the trigger guard long before it sticks down like that... Can you give a close-up pic in better lighting?

Mine won't go below the red line, as it sits on the edge of the guard there..

Get a better pic in better light. It may be a replacement aftermarket speed-feed ramp which is supposed to stick out a ways. It replaced the stock "button" and is way easier to use when loading fast or using speed loaders. Like this.

STOP!!!! Do not try to fix it. It is not broke.

That is a "Dave's Metal Works Easyloader". It is meant to stick out and takes the place of the stock carrier release button to make it faster and EASIER to load!

Thanks arwen. Ya elimsprint I have one of those speed feeders on mine. A local gunsmith told me that it's not supposed to stick out, but if yours does also then I'll assume he's just trying to cash-grab.
How much would one of those shell holders that attaches onto the take-down pins run me? I'm debating between getting a take-down pin rail system or just getting a drill and tap rail mount. I'm one of those who thinks a red dot sight on a shotgun is cool haha. Too much time spent playing COD4 way back when.
 
I see them on the EE all the time for around $50. Check S&J hardware, he has Mesa. TacStar is always nice also. You can get the sidesaddle with a picatinny also, just do a search or ask in the shotguns section, somebody will know where and who makes it. I think OldRanger has one on his gun in this thread but I can't tell for sure as you can only see the right side of the gun.
