Here are some groups I shot on Saturday at a club shoot with my Winchester 52D :) . Thought you folks would enjoy ;). This new eley ammo seems to be really working for me  10 shots at each bull. Target scored 799 out of a possible 800.

Thanks :) :)

gth, the nine? I don't know what I was thinking . It was my fist shot.

Levi, the 52 doesn't have what I would call a sporter barrel, but its not bull. Its jsut a standard barrel, but the tuners make it shoot as well as bull barrels IMO

Thats quite the rig.

How does it do with some of the more commonly available bulk type ammo?

I'm too cheap to buy anything but the 'value paks' of .22lr, but I would like to know how much of a difference it makes.

Yes they work. I bought the gun with the Hoehn tuner on the front, and the mid barrel tuner has been a recent addition. Your looking at around $250-300 for the front one and about $100 for the mid barrel one. IMHO you need both to be real competitve (not that I am or anything :D). The front one has 500 clicks, each click moves an adjustable weight .001 up the barrel, while the mid barrel one just is moved using a ruler to measure your distance away from the forend.

I didn't install the front one, but from what I can see, and from what I have heard, they are not very hard to install. The mid barrel tuner is very easy to install. All you have to do is loosen and tighten allen screws to move it up or down the barrel.

The tuners are most effective on barrels 26". The front one works by controlling the vibtrations, making them consistant, and the midd barrel one works by dampning the vibrations. I probably saw a 10% increase in group size.

gth, the cheapest ammo I have tried in it is Lapua superclub. The most expensive, of course, Eley tenex ultimate eps. I have never tried bulk ammo in it, nor will I do in the future.

I haven't tried smart stock but was considering it. I do not like an idea of wedging barrel no matter how controllable this is. To me it seems you will have to re-sight your gun every time you re-adjust accurizer screw and that is OK for range shooting but total disaster for field trips. Instead I made my own barrel mounted vibration dumper that seemingly "fixed" my gun permanently with less than 50 shots fired for rough adjustment. See this thread - I bragged earlier.

my groups were close to 1.5" @ 100m reliably and I was shooting from sandbag. Say, it seems all its necessay is to dumpen vibration and you do not need +600$ to do that.

The only trouble I found with vibration damping by means of attaching weight to the barrel is that barrel droops more. Its OK for flat shots but if shooting up or down hill you should get some raw data or your shots will be way off vertically. Barrel springs back a bit to top off normal higher points of impact.

I am considering stiffer barrel now, never had one.

So with scores like that, how did you do in the club shoot?
What group sizes do you have there?
Thats amazing for 100 yards - 22's just seem to fall apart when you get out to 100 yards. I'll have to try 100 yards with the 40X, never even thought about it.

Thanks Slash5.

I have 3 small 10 shot groups, each measuring around the .625-.65 range CTC. The otehrs are probably around .8-1.1CTC or so.

I also shot a 241-1x on the USBR at 50 yards that day.

Of course though, when i went to order that ammo (lot number) they were all out.

My advice to you that morning to not drink your usual large black coffee paid off big time, and just for the record, it is not nice to shatter my 796 score.
You realizes that this means all out war don’t you??;)
