Some 14in 870 bbl Q. please??

How do I know when buying a 14in Rem 870 barrel if it's a factory bbl?
Are there specific proofmarks etc?
What is the exact length and exactly where is it measured from?
From the very tip of the receiver tang or from where the barrel meets the receiver?

The damn things are F$%*# expensive so want to know what I'm lookin for/at and that it's legal ( Not a cut down).

Also how long is a 1 shot extension measured from the bottom of the threaded end to the nose?
I will be shortening one of my 3 shot extensions to a 1 shot when get a shorty barrel.

Awhile back I asked the same question .Goto www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149789 for the answers, no one was to sure if there is any markings to ID barrel lengths.

No markings exist on the factory 14" barrel that would identify it as such, contact arwenace by pm if you want verification of this.

Like gadget said (he sold me one ). No special markings. I believe the earlier dlask barrels had no markings but made it a priority to do so.

most of them are choked (IC or mod) so it it has a choke at the end of 14" then it's likly real.

if it's cyl bore, probably no way to tell.
