i have a few questions wonder if you guys could answer for me

1)could you have a 9mm and .45 top ends that just swap out on the same frame?
2) do the .22 conversions work on a commander size frame? even better, does someone make a commander sized .22 kit

I believe you would need to swap ejectors as they are a different.

Dust cover would be too short. Not sure if there is a .22 conversion in Commander length.

The government-length kits would work on a Commander-length frame, but there might be an unsightly gap.

J.A. Ciener, among others, makes a Commander-length kit.

I have taken my .45 Colt Government Model and added the calibers .22 LR & .400 CorBon. 1 Gun 3 calibers. I'm don't think you could convert from 9 to .45 but it is an interesting idea.

i thought there was different ejectors but i wasnt sure. ive heard of people having 9mm and .45 top ends that swap but maybe they are using external ejectors.

i will have to see if anyone can get those conversions in for me

Generally the ejectors are press-fit and not easily moved.
I was once told that the ejectors could be loosely fit since they are enclosed with the slide on. Then you could swap them out easily.
I've never heard of anyone doing it though.

is changing the ejector something you could do at the range?

Yes, if you have the one you are changing to already fitted to your frame, then all you have to do is drift out one small pin, remove existing ejector, install other ejector, reinstall pin & your frame is good to go.

As far as the slide goes, it's about the case head diameter.
The extractor, ejector are in different locations.

A Commander frame would work, however there would be a gap at the dust cover.

It is possible to use a NP-29 frame with a .45 ACP slide if the ejector cut in the slide is modified or if the ejector is thinned to clear the .45 slide.

This is my Norkenstein.
It has a NP-29 frame. It shoots .38 Super, 38 Special wadcutter, 9mm, and .45 ACP it can also wear a Kart .22LR top-end.

I had a 9mm Norinco from Armco that I would place my conversion kit on to. Jo Dlask removed the ejector retaining pin (??) and told me I was good to go exchanging the ejectors without replacing the pin. He suggested if I was going to use one calibre for an extended period of time that I should, at that time insert the pin.
