I finally decided to get off my ass and clean out the bolt and carrier on my LMT. I have alot put through it so figured it was time. Got the step by step instructions from ARF com. ANyways when I got the extractor pin out and took out the extractor, the two mini rear springs fell out. Both seem in fine shape. I noticed on the ARF com instructions that is said dont let them come out? WTF? They didnt appear to be in place with anything other than the extractor pressure. I put everything back in place. Havent shot it yet. Will I have any problems with the extractor? I have been using CLP for awhile but on my AR it seems to turn to carbon sludge. I cleaned it all off and switched to TW25 and lightly coated all parts. ANybody have any sources for Miltec or something else to use? I was surprised by how much carbon I had built up on the back of the bolt, about 1/8 inch or alittle less.. I have a nickel bolt so it cleans off easily. I was thinking about getting a spare bolt and firing pin. Can anybody recommend a good source? Or should I just get more LMT stuff? thanks for any help.:dancingbanana:

Its quite normal for the extractor spring to come out when you push the extractor pin out. As you already noticed, it's just held in place by the extractor. Make sure that the little plactic insert doesn't get lost though. If everything went back as you had it before, you're good to go :)

PLASTIC INSERT??? Wtf? lol, Mine didnt come with one? Just extractor, centre pin, and two springs? Am I missing something? Or does LMT not use these on their bolts?

ok, the LMT bolt has a different extractor, it use two springs instead of one and without the normal plastic inserts. the springs are twice as long and stiff as the normal one. No wonder LMTs have no problems

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I had lots of FTE(xtract)'s with mine. A little 1/8" OD (#60) rubber o-ring around the extractor spring solved the problem, no more FTE's :D In short barreled AR's you realy need a stronger extractor spring.
