I'm wanting to get back in the AR scene. The only AR I ever fired was the C7 I was issued when they 1st replaced the FN.

Back then we weren't concerned about gas tube lengths and buffer tube size and springs. I'm wondering what kind of different effects, if any, the different gas tubes lengths and buffers and buffer springs have on the rifle? Does it effect the felt recoil or the cycling reliability?

As well are there any problems with using a lower and upper from different manufactures?

The biggest thing gas tube length and buffers change is the cyclic rate.

Generally there are no compatibility issues when using different makes of upper/lower.
