Some Beretta M9.92FS questions.

I decided that in a few months when I start work the first firearm I will buy in 2010 will be a Beretta M9. Problem is that all the dealers I asked only stock the 92FS style. I know they are identical internally but I prefer the look of the straight dust cover on the M9.

Also, just in case I can't find one, my second choice is an Italian made 92FS. Does anyone have Pictures on the new Italian made ones? The pics I have seen look a little odd with the slanted cover and I would like some more views to help me judge.

The new Italian 92FS are slant dust cover with the grip bulged in, even the Inox ones are all like this now. You should look for a M9 in this case, or an older 92FS.
 
Shameless Picture placement of mine but I'm assuming that you are looking for the non-railed M9. Very nice guns no matter which one you get. Can't go wrong.

I was hung up on the straight cover. Once I had the Italian one in hand I really didn't care for the straight cover. Frankly I think the slant is more representative of Italian design and follows the curves of the rest of the gun.

The slant dust cover was a byproduct of the 96 series, I guess they never bothered to go back to the classic toolings. ( you can say its Americanized due to the popularity of the .40SW )
 
I may end up getting both as the 92 is my favorite pistol. I found a place in BC that has Italian made 92FS's for 795, which is the best place so far. But I really like the look of the straight cover. did the Italians just start the slanted cover on the recent batch?

Yes, recently, I cannot recall how recent since we get our shipments much later than USA, are all post 96 slanty now.
The new M9s are still the classic design, but are American made if that matters anything to you.
I prefer the classic lines better myself also, but that does not really matter if one did not grow up watching John Woo movies or DieHard and Lethal Weapon.
 
I don't contribute any media coverage to my love of the Beretta 92. When I first started gaining interest in firearms at age 14 or 15 i searched several makes of pistol and i liked the Beretta the most. It started out because I just liked the look, it was the vertec that caught my eye as I actually disliked the barrel extending out of the frame at first, but it grew on me and now I really like the look. After some research I found out it was a very well respected pistol, and I eventually got to handle one at WSS Lethbridge.

The only real piece of media that makes me want a Beretta is a Video game. My favorite Video game of all time is Ace Combat 5. I love the story, it flows and has a "movie" feel to it as you progress through the game (I am also a fighter pilot wannabe). Anyways, the pistol shown in the game during cinematic scenes was a Beretta M9, and it could have actually sealed the Beretta 92 as my favorite pistol.

I know its stupid to like a pistol without even shooting it, but it has always been my must have pistol, although my "holy grail" of pistols is a Mint Inglis High-Power.

With Beretta, you don't really need to try before you love it, it always that good. Ofcaurse Hi-power is some of the best.
