Some Brass Cannon restoration for Portuguese museum.

Looks like it was mostly a matter of scraping off gray paint. Have to wonder what the three bars on the barrel signify ?

Wow, interesting thread ,thank you. That "sliding breech block" cannon is a beauty .

I have built one "Krupp type sliding breech block" breech loading cannon tube (15/8 bore) and always wanted to do an "interrupted thread" type but got "old" before I could gather up all the parts I would need.

Interesting. I would not have expected any breach loader to have a brass barrel.
Would love to see and understand the inner workings and sighting system on those.

It’s likely Bronze (much tougher than brass), I also wouldn’t be surprised if it had a steel lining for the inside of the barrel. Definately would be cool to take a closer look at!

Since those seem to be marine/coast used guns is there a possibility of gun being steel, but bronze plated as a corrosion prevention measure?

It would make a lot more sense than solid bronze gun parts.
