Jeez. You show us some cutesy pins and then leave us hanging with the butt markings of a (presumably) full military Ross Rifle. That’s harsh dude.

Got some more pictures of the Ross? I’m guessing it may have been issued to the group in the picture? Tell us more.

Please do not "make things better" by attacking the old brass badges with Brasso and shine them up, The age and patina make them look fantastic as they are. And X2 regarding Blastattacks comment on the stock and Ross.

Outstanding rifle! Having a familial connection to some of the items makes it all that much more interesting.

Thank you for sharing.

My Great Uncle was with the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles.

He signed up - attested in 1914 in Toronto.

His former Regiment was the Mississauga Horse.

Is there anyway you could share his name and history here or by a PM?

Also, Cyclist Corps, very interesting!

Having a name to go along with a picture is a treasure to myself and others as it allows us to research his military career with the care and respect that he deserves.

So many faces are nameless, as so many names are faceless!

A very nice collection of items, rich with history. Congratulations.

Having a full wood Mk III Ross with all of its markings intact is a real score, especially with an identifiable regimental affiliation. Are there any other markings on the buttstock? It was struck off from, as ballsofice said, the 27th Bn. at which point the next battalion receiving it would apply its markings. My Mk II Ross got handed around to a range of battalions (receiving a replacement stock at some point along the way).
