Lol! In canada, we do the same to polar bears!! In all seriousness, what's really happening there? Vet check up for zoo lions I'm guessing.

No not a vet , but a handler. This photo was taken in a game park near Johannesburg City. Actually a very stupid move, the handler was showing how calm the male is...and i assume 'all males' are quite calm when you have those in your hands...lol
 
OMG, you're right, I'd rather take my chance with a bear as I absolutely hate snakes. This one looks like some sort of cobra which is even worst. I was once faced with a baby cobra in my sleeping quarters in S-W Asia and I was happy that someone had enough balls to kill it.

Something along these lines happened to my father when he was a kid in South Africa. He and some cousins were on a family farm looking after livestock when he found a conveniently shaped pile of rocks with suitable gaps to sit upon and take a dump. Pants down, he got comfortable on the rocks when one of the other boys came over, squealed like a little girl and started to run. My dad, apparently had much quicker reflexes than he does currently, and reacted by jumping up and stumbling forward a few steps as one of our elapid friends, such as seen in the photo, actually managed to hit his gitch as opposed to more tender parts.
 
Wasn't there a guy up near Jo'burg that had a snake come through the toilet and bit his balls a few years back? I remember the story because he almost died but i can't find it. My google-fu is weak this evening. Though i did find something similar that happened to a guy in israel 3 weeks ago. Scary shtuff.
