Went out yesterday, she was a beautiful day. No wind for a change, sunny @ -20 First stand, called in five - that was a first - only bagged one yote - certainly have room for improvement!! I shot this one @ ~ 325 yrds using a 35gr. berger in .204 This yote gave one yelp, 3 strides, there was not a 4rth. Upon inspection his chest cavity was mush!!
Last week end called in these two foxes - first one was hanging out @ 400 yrds - could not get him in more - waiting for a complete broad shot - dialed in my turret for 400 yrds - lucky shot as it found his head. The second (which I had not seen originally) started running away after the shot - I was able to call him in to ~ 280 yrds using my foxpro - rabbit in distress call. Dialed in scope for 300 yrds and got a heart shot on him. Both went down in their tracks - this rifle amazes me when I actually hit something. :)
This calling thing is new for me, just started last year - have lots to learn! One thing is for sure it is a very exciting - the longer it takes to call them in the harder it is to stay steady.

Sticks

I think that shooting sticks are single greatest new hunting product since the bolt action rifle.
Nice shooting at 3 and 400 yards, gotta give that yote hunting a go one of these days. FS

I've learned to take the shot when you can. I've lost a few waiting for them to get closer or broadside or whatever...nice shooting on your part. A 204 barrel is next on my shopping list for the encore.

The bipod is a SnipePod - can be found at: www.snipepod.ipower.com
The biggest advantage to this bipod is its abiltiy to pivot and tilt easily - the other bipods I have tried failed miserably at this, which I belive is a must when out calling! Its not perfect, but the best I've tried so far!

Excellent chevy, keep whacking them.
A good way to drag coyotes back to the truck is to put the drag loop around the lower jaw behind their canine teeth and put the front paws through that same loop, or pass the end of a rope behind the lower jaw canine teeth, around the front paws then wrap around the top jaw to close their mouth with the paws tied against the dogs muzzle. Closing the open jaw stops snow from gathering in it or hanging up. They slip along very nice like this.

Here’s a coyote drag that can be made.

Thanks, I'll take a look at their site. I've been using shooting sticks but I've never been really happy with them.

scope/sunshade

hey Chevy is that a 6-24x50 4200? I have this scope on my .223 Savage and absolutely love it. Have you used the sunshade at all?
Hi, yes it is the 6-24X50 4200 elite - I've yet to try out the sunshade - I know there are times when I could of used it - setting sun during the gopher season - I'll have to make sure to include it in my hunting bag for those times. Thanks for reminding me, sort of forgot all about it. Cheers

Norton, thanks for the idea - looks like a very simple and efficient way to drag those yotes that seem to weigh a ton by the time you get to the truck. :)

Home of the "jet powered" snowbirds and "Mac" the moose or the "Jaw", Sk. - great hunting country :)
