Some good shooting, and not so good shooting.

Here's some pics of a recent outing with a couple shooting partners. We fired close to 700 rounds of 12 gauge in about 45 minutes. Shooting 2 boxes(270) clay pigeons. Good times. Until I shot the sling off my buddy's shotgun. Don't mount your sling at the end of the magazine tube. Guns used were, Mossberg 590, Mossberg 500, and my Maverick 88. The shotguns got so hot it was hard to extract fired hulls. Some showed signs of melting. My barrel began to change colour:D

Shoulders are fine. Its the support/pump arm that was sore. Anywhere between 2-8 rounds fired per clay, your arm gets tired of pumping.

It's a lot easier on your arm and wallet if you hit em on the first shot rather than the 8th. ;)

It wasn't a matter of missing. It was more fun to shoot more rounds than required. Often hitting the shattered fragments of the pigeon from the first hit. Keep in mind, it was usually two guys shooting and one throwing so there was some competition to "claim" the first hit. As for easier on the wallet. The goal on a range trip is to shoot large volumes. Its a waste of a trip for one box of shells, or one box of clays.

Flyinghigh,

I've had zero issues with the M88. I bought it off a buddy who upgraded to the Mossberg 590(the one in the pic with a sling on it). He bought the shotgun for $209 I bought it from him for $100. I got a real deal. between the two of us we've shot close to 4000 rounds through it. My buddy rarely cleaned it just out of principle. He didn't care, his words were "its a $200 shotgun, I don't give a sh*T.." He routinely dropped it, tossed it, or kicked it around. His goal was to see what kind of abuse it would take. We shot it in the rain then dumped it into a puddle to cool it. It doesn't owe me anything at all. I clean it regularly and avoid abusing it. Its quite handy being that it is a 18.5" barrel and only 5+1 for capacity. The action when my buddy got it was a bit stiff but quickly worked in to be very smooth. My only complaint is the crossbolt safety as opposed to the ambidextrous tang safety on the Mossberg guns.
