Some Kimber Hunter photos and info here...

I've got a 280 ai. I will post weight soon for those who are curious. The plastic stock could use some more texture on the forend in my opinion.

For sure post your 280AI weight and let us know how it shoots and how you like it.
Also, consider stippling the grip-area with a soldering iron or tip, that is one of the few advantages of owning a Plastic stock IMHO, just Google and lots of info can be found on the technique, it's relatively easy to do albeit time consuming but it can turn out looking very nice and being very functional.

You're right Pete, while I do like the idea of the voids for holding the bedding compound, I am concerned with how much weight will be added as it will take a large amount of compound to fill those voids and Devcon 10101 is rather heavy by volume.
The barrel is getting shortened to 20.5" though, so that may slightly offset the large amount of Devcon weight-wise.
Either way I will keep this thread updated.

You could run some fiberglass matting over the honeycomb first, assuming there's enough clearance to use Devcon as well.

Interesting option I hadnt thought of. I was thinking along the same lines as Pete with the spray foam but I dig the fiberglass cloth idea...I will investigate further and thanks for the tip.

S&S7 Hope this is not an imposition but am very curious how your .308 cut and crown turned out. I am considering the same mod. and need a little nudge. I think a 20.5" Kimber Hunter would be perfect.

Turned out great! When I am able to return to my home and things get back to normal for me I will post pics.
I'm one of the evacuees from the BC wildfires and although my guns are in a safe place I am starting to feel some separation anxiety!
