Hey guys. I got some Christmas money so I figure now is the time to get into reloading. Like so many others I think I will go for the Lee Anniversary Kit

1. All I need is dies and a shell holder this I know... I would like to remain lube free (One less thing to think about/buy) so could I use Lee Collet Neck Sizing dies? I am reloading 308 and I only have one bolt action so I only have to worry about the ammo fitting in one gun.

2. What would be the best ammo to buy and then use the brass from? I would like to get about 200 rounds of something (American Eagle? Federal XM80CL?) to shoot and then use the brass to reload. I have been reading and Federal seems to have soft brass tho...any other suggestions? There isn't much that can be bought for a decent price.

3. How do people know what powders to use for what calibers?? I know I will need to do some research and reading...but as a general rule how do people know what powder works for what calibers???

Thanks

Lube free generally is only for straight walled cartridges. Even if you neck size eventually you will have to do a full

Buy a good manual like Lyman 49th edition it will answer 90% of your questions

Alright thanks. So basically if you are reloading rifle you will have to lube eventually? And just running reloads through a bolt with neck size only a full size will eventually be needed? Might as well just buy a full set of dies then eh?

I use an rcbs spray on a lube pad and works fine. I also have imperial sizing wax I have used for neck sizing. Lubing your cases is such a minimal expense I can't think of why you wouldn't do it.
