Apologies in advance lol .

Is it legal for someone to pay for a firearm either in full or in part, and in effect have the gun shop "hold" it for a person who does not yet have a PAL ?? And than have it picked up or shipped once PAL is shown ?? And if it's legal would a gun shop do this?? (I have my hunting license but my FAC has gone the way of the dodo so I am taking my CFSC in a couple of weeks with my son-we will then take the OHEP together though I will skip the test :rockOn:)

Safes . Liberty vs Stack On ?? There are some safes on sale right now from both brands and I'm trying to decide on which brand and how big to get . I'm looking at a safe not a cabinet (I have two kids-three if you count the lab) and a wife who will have to be reassured as to the safety of said firearms . I was originally thinking a 12 gun but a friend here said that a 12 is a 6 and 18 is a 9 etc etc

thanks

I know stores will hold a gun for you till you get your PAL, if you pay for it. Can Am does this.

I have a stack on 8 gun safe and I love it. got it on sale at crappy tire. a bit small for 6 guns, 3 have scopes.

The gun on hold depends on the store policy of course. Check with the retailer. Maybe a refundable deposit is all that is required based on you obtaining your PAL in a timely fashion. As for a gun safe, get the deepest one you can or one that will house twice as many firearms as you intend to store in it.

The cheaper models aren't deep enough to house scoped rifles with them standing facing straight up and down. As the scope bumps the back wall of the safe, the rifle needs to be turned sideways somewhat for it to fit. So what you have is a rifle that now takes up 2 slots along the wall of the safe. A gun safe designed to fit 12 un scoped firearms will only fit 6 or so with scopes for that reason.

I bought my safe at Costco and I am very happy with it. Unfortunately their stock changes from store to store and varies over time but that might also be something worth looking into. Ultimately any well built sturdy locker with a combo lock is acceptable.

I actually got to check some out today at CT . While talking about them with the wife she said (paraphrasing) that the larger (24 gun) looked safer and more secure and that she didn't want me to buy a "cheap little one" . Guess a larger safe wont be a tough sell lol .
