This was opening morning, saw a head poking across a hill to come investigate, realized it was a hen, so I dropped the gun can attempted to shoot it with my iPhone instead. She came to with in about 3-4 meters and tried to harass my hen decoy.
Pretty neat to see a hen go into a "strut" and puff herself out. Something I have never seen before and wasn't aware they did.
These were some pictures from this afternoon I grabbed on my new DSLR camera, highlights my need to a telephoto lens I think! This guy was just strutting and gobbling at the thunder storm every time it boomed. The whole forest was alive with gobbles as a matter of fact. Couldn't get them to come in to meet my turkey choke though. Not sure if it was a hen to his right or a young jake.
Picture of the back fan.
