Just when I was trying to reduce the number of rifles I have to ones I actually use, LOL!
Someone in the family is wanting to give me one of these rifles down the road and I don't know anything about them.
So before I say yes or no I thought I would ask fellow GunNutz.
It looks like original military iron sights.
Stepped barrel, stamped with:
Globe Firearms LTD
MODEL 098 CAL.. 8X57JS
The bore looks shiny with nice rifling, overall shape of the rifle is good, been hunted with a few rust spots on metal and handling marks on what looks to be some type of blond wood in a Monti carlo style stock. Bolt turned down.
I was going to take the barrel off to look for other info but noticed the screw holding the trigger guard has an extra smaller screw locking the larger main one in place and the smaller screws head is not in the best of shape (someone over the years used a hardware store screw driver on it)...it might be needing replacement.
Sorry I didn't have time to take pics it was getting late and we had a long drive home.
BTW when I took the bolt out I was playing with the safety and the rear of the bolt turned in my hand and could not get it turn back to be able to get it back in the rifle, DOH!
My little Husky Swedes don't do this.
Any info or trivia on this rifle model would be appreciated.
Thoughts? A keeper? A seller?
And yes I tried the search function here and kept getting
"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."
