Having a small debate with a friend, on the legal stuff on bp pistols, these reproductions of pre 1889 cap and ball guns. I say you need RPAL, he says you just need a PAL, and you have to register it as non restricted.
 
Basically, when it comes to pistols, regardless of caliber or action, if it was made during or after 1898, it's either restricted or prohib.
 
Yep, original = antique, repro = same classification as any other firearm with those characteristics. Even the "deemed antique" flintlock repros are only considered antique if they would be non-restricted.

If you had an original Colt 1860, it would be antique, meaning it does not require registration or a license. A Colt 1860 replica by Uberti (or any other company) is a restricted firearm, and requires that type of license and registration.
 
Reproduction=pistol=restricted.

In the US of A they classify the repro's same as the originals, not here in Canada.

If these were bought without paperwork in the US, and brought in, say goodbye...they are unregistered restricted firearms and there are going to be questions asked...
