Logged a little time in the field neutralizing some critters. Area is south of Calgary. Actual location is a closely guarded secret:cool:

Looks like fun!

Whats kinda gun is that? and what caliber? I thought it almost looked like a 10/22 but looks bigger than a .22, meh what do I know lol.

You are correct. It is a 10/22. I've catalogued every round fired. To date it has 33,000 rounds through it. Only thing aftermarket is the exact edge extractor and a butler creek extended mag release.

(can you tell where my finger sits when not firing, note the missing paint below the Canadian flag)

My brother and I are still looking for a place to go shoot Gophers around the calgary area, any suggestions?

The weather was relatively cooperative. 16-18 C but the wind was pushing 30-40 km/h. Shot probably 4-5 dozen bewteen the two of us. Not a great day at this location but a good one. Last year we shot close to 1000 rounds each one day and all shots were at gophers. Obviously not all hit and several took more than one round. The lag between gophers averaged about 20 seconds. We stood in one spot for close to 2 hours. Then moved about 150 yards and waited again.

As for other shooters. Sorry folks, this is my shooting partners sweet spot. No extra shooters. The land owners limit the shooters to my partner and one guest per visit.

As for where to shoot. Drop by the UFA in Airdrie or Okotoks, High river, Strathmore.... ASk around. Put up posters in the UFA's or place an ad in the local "farmers journal". Once you get access to land and prove you're not a retard and respect their land. The propositions flow. A fair number won't permit anything larger than 12 ga or rimfire due to nearby roads or neighbours. The land above where my buddy and I shoot is good to go for all calibres. Works well for my Savage 10FP. I can shoot further than the rifle can and still not leave the property. Oh yeah, and the owners will let us hunt on their land this fall :)

ETA: Here's a pic of a gopher my buddy shot at about 10 yards with 12 ga 7.5 shot.

You'll be happy to know that today we have rdf (rain, drizzle, fog - supposed to be like that all week) and the expected high is 3 with a 60km wind. :bangHead:
We don't have prairie dogs/ground hogs here and if we did, they wouldn't come out of the ground until mid July (2 weeks later....back in) :)
Sorry for the hijack.......man that looks like alot of fun!
