Posed? I can't really see a deer getting into that position, nevermind adding another to the mix. Then again, strange things do happen.

i think the picture is staged, It is possible for three deer to lock up because sometimes a third buck tries it's luck when two are already going at it but the angle this deer is at would rule that out. But who knows stranger things have happened.

Well they have their eyes plucked out. So they died in place I'd say. Pretty messed up, I mean why would three big bucks like that just up and die seperately like that? You never know if it's real or not..

The only eye I can see properly is not plucked out. I still say posed

One would think the ground would be gouged up if the deer thrashed about.......grass on the legs etc.

I'd bet on a staged photo.

Ground is tore up a bit on the top left of the first picture, but how much tearing could there be with three locked up like that?

Two bucks are like a tornado but with three every time one would shift the other two would counter. Stalemate.

BUt I'm going with the posed as well.

The single deer (dark one)isn't even locked.

I'm going with posed as well...for the following reason.
My Dad found the bodies of two bucks locked up(I still have the horns) .One of the dead bucks was in excellent shape, the other was in real rough shape ....skinny ,hair all matted etc. The one that was in good shape died of a broken neck, the other from exhaustion and starvation(trying to drag the other around).
Very unlikely that they would all three die at the same time .
Five husky men couldn't pull the horns apart but a couple of years later fell apart when they dried out .

There was an article in a recent Big Buck mag of 3 bucks locked together. I don't think it's the same ones though, I'd have to go back and check.
