on how I can go hunting on crown land posted stating that you may hunt goose during any open season.

then have the CO pop up as a nice flock is about to come in and tell me I cant hunt there because there are crops on the property.

we were set up on grass not in the beans so I dont get it at all. but regardless it says nothing about crops on the fancy little sign they have.

needless to say im a tad bitter because I have no goose and also feel stupid because I took a fellow cgn member out for a hunt and this crap happens.

That's bull####. Crops are not bait...

There was a discussion here last year about the fall turkey hunt. I said the CO's would do the same thing about hunting on a corn field, classing it as bait, but others said they wouldn't...

So I was right, and here we go...:mad:

That CO had better re-read the regulations...crops are not considered bait.

As long as it's considered "normal farming practice" you're OK. :)

he didnt mention the word bait per say.but thats what I assumed he meant, either way im heading my ass into the office on monday having them show me exactly where in the regulations or anything that says I can not hunt there when all the signs on that property say during any open goose season.

Well now I will enlighten you.

I called the mnr today because something about this just wasnt sitting right with me,I talked to our area manager and he said that its perfectly fine to hunt there and he will get to the bottom of things and figure out why the other officer thought we cant hunt there.

lesson learned,if told you cant hunt somewhere and your sure you can, leave peacefully and call the office later
