Someone Help Me Out?

I was wondering if someone could tell me a little about this gun. I assume it is a Mauser. It says it was made by FN in Herstal Belgium. Barrel is in good condition. Chambered in 30-06 and was VERY accurate. All wood appears to be original with lots of use marks but is in excellent condition other wise. No rust and functions flawlessly. Any ideas on value?

Collector value has been lost by drilling and tapping for scope mount as well as an altered bolt handle. The are a well made rifle done post WW2. It's value now is as a sporter, probably in the area of $250-$300 to someone who wants to complete the sporter job with a new stock, bluing the metal, and other additions such as a safety to clear the scope and an adjustable trigger.
 
...Ummm I dunno, might be talking outta my a$$ but still a nice full trim '98. With optics I would guess $500-$700 as a made-up sniper... There have been a couple made up '98 bitsers that have gone in that range on the EE and they weren't no FN. Those pics suck but that looks like a nice clean rifle to me.

What's with all the lowball valuations recently guys? There a container load of numbers matching R/Cs coming in that only the old-timers know about or....?
 
Its the sporter bolt handle that kills it for me. I hate that pattern. Had it had some higher rings & a k98 style bolt then maybe it might be worth something more than a sporter but a sis its just another huntin' rifle to me.
 
Perhaps an uneventful South American Mauser $200 to $300 value, Drilled and tapped with sporter bolt. Looks reparked grey and not blued.
 
I think that rifle was a former Fabrique Nationale Model 1930 short rifle with straight bolt handle. I have, what I think, is a match in my book to a Columbian issued one.

Yours has the wood sanded, the metal parkerized, the bolt handle modified, and the receiver drilled and tapped for a scope mount. With respect, she doesn't have any real collector value anymore, simply the sum of the parts in the current setup. The parkerization and the bent bolt handle really turn me away but there is always someone in the crowd who likes rifles like this I am sure. Sounds like she is a good shooter though so perhaps someone will treat her with some respect at the range or on a hunting trip.

Thanks for the info guys! Don't feel bad about bashing this old girl! I knew it had no real value to it anyways. It's just sort of been a hunting rifle for every young buck in the family when hey first get into hunting. She has seen alot of rounds and ALOT of deer over the years.
