Someone just needs to be slapped

Claybuster, isn't this your 391?
Sharptail, you have shaken my faith. As the undisputed champion of shotgun identification and history on this board you have tarnished your own crown.

That isn't anyone's 391. It's a 390. ;)

And 390 or not, it's not mine although in the 70's I owned a leisure suit in similar colours. :D

My son is looking at getting the stock and forearm on his Beretta painted. It will be orange with red/yellow lightning bolts and the Grim Reaper on it. The picture of it actually looks pretty good if your kid. I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

Claybuster, you got me! (hangs head in shame) Now that I know that I am fallible, I will never have confidence again.

I would probably pay to see you in that leisure suit.

There is a guy at our club who had a custom butt stock made for his 101. He painted it metalflake blue. He left the fore end original and untouched. I guess he likes 2 - tones. And yes, he is a skeet shooter.

Ah Sharptail, don't worry about your confidence. You're the only guy around here who would know a Darne from a Charlin, not to mention how to take one apart. The first one like that I ever saw I couldn't figure how to open the darn thing (pun intended).

As for the suit it was long since relegated to the trash heap along with any and all pictures.

My son wants his Beretta done similar to this.

Here's a link to some others, there's two pages

Any guess on what I like?

Tim

I agree with claybuster. I like the gorgeous wood to be shown. I am just not comfortable showing up at a range with a paint job like that on my gun. I guess I am old-fashioned.

Brad, I liked your earlier links better.;)

The painted stocks from Dave's Auto Body are causing me to rethink my dismay over Beretta Xtra-wood. At least it looks like wood from a distance. :D

I don't know what Dave probably charges for his (ahem) artistry but the money would be much better spent on a wood upgrade.

The paint jobs would probably add some value to a TOZ-34:p :p :p

Or hide the fact that it is a TOZ 34:eek:

And I thought that Winchester had used candy wrap for it's SX2 Signature II receiver :D looks much better than those images in here.....well, gotta respect individual preferences :)

Wonder what these "paint job" guys wives look like ... the same ???

Metal flake, candy apple, flames and pin stripes look O.K. on Bass Boats,
Hot Rods & Choppers ... same kind of a cretin would probably like
knobby off-road tires and thrush mufflers on his yellow Ferrari !

I think it is just a sign that the sport is going more mainstream - which will bring new, different, good/bad (different opinion for everyone) things to the sport - but hopefully it will mean more availability of supplies and ranges with a greater # of participants.
