Hi.Looking for someone to refurbish 2 rifle stocks. One is a pre 64 win plain stock and one is a Sako Finn Bear.Original stock.Just looking for a sanding and satin finish on both.If anyone can steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it.Thanks.

If you are at all handy you can do this yourself. A pre 64 Winchester if memory serves doesn't have checkering, not sure about the Fin Wolf which for refinishing will make your life a little easier. Basically you just a apply a good stripper like poly stripper or circa 1854 to remove the old finish. Use course steel wool to get all that gunk off. Some will tell you not to sand it. BS, a good sanding with using a 150 then a 220 will liven up the wood and leave you with a dust on the wood that you casn help utilize as a filler as walnut is a open gerained wood that needs filling. If the stock has checkering then it will need cleaned out and recut using checkering tools, this is not as difficult as it sounds.

There are as many receipes for a stock finish as there is for chocolate chip cookies. Birchwood Casey"s True Oil is very popular, mainly because Birchwood Casey has very good marketing and distribution of there products. Google oil finishes for gun stocks and you will get some ideas. PM me if you need more advice.
