I haven't been online in quite a long while. Haven't really had much to talk about because life still seems ridiculously busy. However, a long awaited rifle finally made its way to me

That is a Cooper Custom classic in 6.5-06 with a New Zealand Walnut stock that I bought the blank for and used the supplied blank option. I put a high gloss 3.5-10 Leupold VX 3 on it although I had originally planned to put a Zeiss conquest 4.5-14 on it. The Leupold just seemed to suit the rifle better. Intended load is a 130 Accubond in resized Winchester 30-06 cases. I'll try and update once I have a load worked up.

That is BEAUTIFUL!!! I'm sure you will be very happy with the rifles accuracy! The Coopers are wicked awesome!

Cheers

One of the nicest rifles I have ever seen but....
....not very practical. The walnut is gorgeus and then some but with the grain of the wood in the forearm not pararel to it I am afraid there will be lots of movement of it with the change in temperature and humidity leading to POI change as well. If you intend to hunt with that rifle all now you can do is enlarge the barrel channel a bit and seal it with the best varnish (marine?) or polyurethane you can find. I hope the factory did that allready for you.

Agree with the above, one of the most beautiful rifles I've seen, but why-oh-why are the swivels studs not inlayed ? Or are the pictures deceiving me

So that is what you bought for your wife after you sold her rifle . . .
That bullet/load will go clean through a moose . . . side to side of course.

For a scope I would lean towards the Leupold VX6 - 2 - 12 x 42 with the CDS.

My wife actually has a pink camo rem 700 7mm-08. Works well for her.
So far, I've only fired 5 rounds through the Cooper, it's -29 and supposed to be -30 -31 for the next couple days. Back to work on Sunday, so I'll have to wait for decent weather to go and chrony the loads and see what it can do for groups.

I'm interested in hearing about your range report? One of the most beautiful rifles I've seen. Stunning! As far as the nay-sayer's I don't think I'd read to much into it. Wood is wood and as such is unpredictable. Time will tell if it's stable or not.
