I'm a long time .223/.308 shooter but until finalizing a trade at a match last year for a new, unfired Barnard/Krieger in 6mmBR the little 6mm's were something I'd only seen and not used. To say I've been impressed with the accuracy of the 6mmBR would be an understatement as from day one this rifle has been able to place 5 shots inside a circle that can be covered with a Quarter at 300 yards when I am doing my bit and it has become pretty much routine that one or two groups in a session will measure in the 0.6xx of an inch.

For those that may have missed my review of this rifle it is here at: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?836825-Short-Review-and-Range-Report-Barnard-in-6mmBR

Even though shooting in the .2's of a MOA made me really happy I did feel as though this rifle may even be capable of even better so after settling on a bullet and powder combo I continued to load develop by way of seating depth seeking to break though into even tighter groups. My goal was to produce a 5 shot group at 300 yards that would be cover-able with a five-cent piece.

Today in perfect conditions ( -4c, no wind, sunny ) I managed to achieve that goal and better it - shooting from the prone off a Rempel bipod and using my new 1/8th click S+B 12-50x56 set on max magnification I shot a five-shot group that looked extremely tight and, bonus, was situated in the target centre. When I retrieved the target I knew it was good but not having a single coin in my pocket I had to wait till I walked back to the line where fellow CGN'ers C3pppo and cptchaos were waiting (and mocking and razzing in the way good friends do) and I was able to scrounge up some coins. The Nickel easily covered the group, next up came a Penny and, lastly, a Dime which - yes - also covered the group! Returning home the group was measured at 0.470" which is 0.156 MOA - yay, I shot in the 1's at 300 yards.

Could I do this again ? Hell, I don't know if I can ever do it again but I do know that it won't be a regular event as I am simply not that consistently good of a shooter To be honest I just felt pleased about achieving a goal ( especially as I had witnesses ) and I wanted to share that with fellow precision shooters :D

Oh, yeah, some pics:

Absolutely amazing! That is some serious shooting Tomochan! I find it amusing that after investing in such top shelf equipment you didn't have enough change left over to measure your groups :p That's money well spent my friend

Thanks everyone - like a Hole in One on the links it may never be repeated but at least it has been done once :)

b72471 the barrel is a 1:8

Supernova - yes, there is a certain irony there !

Ahhhh, Mission.
I kind of miss that range. I went to POCO & weekends are a zoo.
Oh, nice set up by the way, maybe I will see you there this year if I decide to come back.

I was there that day. Saw the group as he shot it and was impressed not only by the equipment, but by how cool he stayed as he put them into the target, knowing this group was something special. Don't be fooled - he works real hard at this craft and has skills to match his gear. Great guy who is always willing to share his knowledge and a laugh. Congrats.

Great shooting, very motivating.....Just gave me my next motivation, 5 shots cover by a dime at 300 metres, i would say in perfect condition, possible ( with my rig), i am up to the twoonie (10 shots @ 300 metres)... JP.

I think I was pretty darn lucky that day - heck should have bought a lottery ticket on way home - but it felt great to do it. As you will see from the 100 and 300 challenges organised by Rod this is a v.good rifle but 5 inside a dime at 300 is a feat unlikely to be repeated - especially with me driving and quite honestly if I hadn't had witnesses I wouldn't have posted as it is still pretty unbelievable.
