Hey everybody, I just bought my first rifle off another member here on CGN, which I really do want to thank the community for btw.
I am new to shooting sports, and hunting. I have no friends into it and I am looking for a place to casually shoot targets in the GTA, could any if you possibly guide me to any resources for locating good reviewed ranges? Preferably ones that aren't going to have huge membership fees.
 
it's done right on the streets in the violent crime capital of Canada (WPG), but not sure what they do in the GTA.;). I do wish you luck in finding an affordable range. Welcome to the wonderful world of shooting! I'm sure you are going to love it.
 
Thank God, I don't live in the city anymore. I am old enough to have used the gun range at Union Station and was a member of the range at Hart House right smack dab in the middle of the University of Toronto. They closed the range at Union station and as for Hart House, I really don't know. It use to be so nice to be able to transport your firearms via TTC. Use to live in the Casa Loma area so 15 min on public transit and your shooting. The good old days. Now your best bet is a place like Target Sport in Stouffville. I have also heard of some crown land in Stouffville that many shooters use as a range. Never been but it is free and legal. Not too many people know about it because it is a pretty well kept secret that you might want to keep to youself to stop everyone including their grandmother from using it. BTW, if you are planning to use a restricted on crown land, you will never be able to get an ATT of any sort. I am 1 1/2 hours north west of the GTA, surrounded by crown land and 6 of the best and least expensive ranges I have ever come across. 5 ranges are within 20 minute drive from me and the cheapest annual membership start at $95. We have a lot of GTA members mainly because they have a secondary property in the area. Good luck in your search brother.
 
Where in the GTA? Maybe someone could take you to their home range. Silverdale Gun Club is open to the public and if might be worth a look if it’s close to you.
 
I am in Hamilton, and Silverdale is my closest available option. It's a bit of a hike but the scenery is nice and the ROs are very relaxed. If you're just casual, the'll charge $30/ Day ($20 during hunting season) or $300/yr.
