Ordered a bunch of parts for my 1911 through brownells. They were from major manufacturers so I thought I was safe. Came out to 98.50. Perfect right? Even checked the box to say dont ship until all items are in. Well every single item except one couldn't be exported. Rather than check in with me they shipped a 20$ rubber mat for 24$ to ship it. Pain in the ass.

Brownells charged me USD 12.50 shipping for a DVD...
If you want parts that can be shipped with no problems, then try Numrich Gun Parts, only they charge an extra USD 25. for international orders, but you can buy parts in max value of USD 200.

Yup. I've found with Brownells that shipping is expensive at the best of times. Orders that would fit in a small envelope still come in a big box despite requesting smaller packaging. I've ordered enough times (and had a few items denied) that now I usually make sure all parts are either Wolff, Wilson, Ed Brown, Colt or Brownell's house brand. If I'm trying something new that I'm not sure will pass, I make it a small dollar item rather than the bulk of my order just in case. I'm too lazy to actually chase down the info about manufacturers and whether or not they have an export license.

Brownells are happy to share the list of thier suppliers that are ITAR registered and exportable.

An IIC is free and easy, and eliminates the dollar limit and other restrictions.

I just had $94.99 in parts shipped from Brownells, and it cost a whopping $5.25 for shipping. Remember to choose Priority, not Express. Express mail will cost you a fortune.

Sinclair is the company that's wacked me the worst for shipping. They start with a $15 fee for shipments to "foreign" countries then charge too much for shipping on top. I don't plan to order from them again, ever.

Their smallest box is still big enough to almost fit a 5-pin bowling ball! I've ordered pistol sights from them on numerous occassions, and when I receive 'em, the box feels like it's empty! Same size "small box" all the time...

Thank you! That's the error I have been making. I printed this off and posted it above my monitor.

Before I ordered, I went and googled the USPS and read up on the difference between Express and Priority. I was warned here on CGN about that, and now I'm just passing along the same info. Pay it forward, as the saying goes.

any one have that list that they might want to post

I made two separate orders for 10 round SR40 mags just to keep the total under $100.
The shipping of each was $5.25, well only one package showed up on the 30th. The second showed up yesterday, and was opened by customs. They nailed me for $18 in change in fees. That was my sonofa .....wtf moment. Needless to say I am filling the back of that receipt out for a refund from customs.

Brownells shipping is cheap. I've ordered about a dozen times from them and the average cost is usually $5.58. The last 2 orders recently I was charged $5.75. You need to pick shipping option Priority Parcel Post and they will ship INTFC (International First Class). If you pick Express Parcel Post the shipping cost will be around $25 +/- a few $$. Never pick UPS and you will be ok.

eg.

Product Total: $68.90
Tax (IA and IN only): $0.00
Shipping Restriction Charges: $0.00
INTFC : $5.75
COD Charge: $0.00
NRA Add-A-Buck: $0.00
Order Total: $74.65

eg.

INTFC : $5.75
COD Charge: $0.00
NRA Add-A-Buck: $0.00
Order Total: $95.69

You want to talk about shipping charges. I got charged $24 to ship a pair of castle nut pliers from Ontario to Alberta, and that was not to the door. Had to pick it up at the post office. That was from one of our beloved sponsors. Wont do bussines with them again.
