I got another thread going in this section with regards to some 2 3/4" 20 gague non-toxic non-steel rounds for my classic SxS 20 gague. It's completely ironic but about three months ago I had someone contact me about an add I posted on kijiji. He offered to trade my 4'x5" chrome exhaust stacks for his MEC 600jr and a few extra things. Now my questions. As of now it's setup for 12gauge. I want to set it up for 12gague 3" steel in 2's and BB and also some non toxic 20gauge 2 3/4. Is this possible? How much am I looking at to get the reloader setup?? I know absolutley nothing about reloading. Any articles or webpages you suggest i take a look at. Hell I don't even know if I have everything need to even load trap loads. Which is what he used to load. the #4's I think are for bunnies?

Here are a few pics the guy emailed me today. I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

To go between 12 and 20 is a Complete PITA.........get another Mec Jr in 20, for the cost difference, well worth it! Even to change different loads for 12, say between a #7 birdshot load, to a non tox # 2 load is a PITA......the things are so cheap, just buy a different one for every different application you need! IMHO!

Look for a lyman shoshell manual, thats a good place to start. As mentioned converting a MEC press may not be worth the effort, at least consider buying a second press instead. In the meantime learn on the 12 gauge and see what you think of it.

I used to change my mec jr from 12 to 20 in about 30 minutes. Not a makor undertaking once you do it a few times. I have never loaded non toxic so I can't comment on that. As they say if all else fails read the instructions. If you are getting a deal on one then buy another for another gauge. A die set I would guess would cost around $75.

Thanx for the input. The whole reason I've decided to do the swap is to reload 20 gague 2 3/4" non-tox. Found some nice products that won't cost me $4.50 per shell. The $75 die set will easily be made up once I start reloading either bismuth, hevi-sot or Nice shot.
