Soper rifle

Anyone have one ? would like to hear your thoughts opinion's. I am waiting for one in .357. it is a copy and does not have the side lever but looks interesting. I will post pics when I get it.

I saw the one you are getting on sale here at one time.Though not a true copy of a Soper rifle it did look like a fun little gun to play with

you must be talking about a more recent Soper; I once owned a percussion 40 caliber half stock made by Philo Soper of Ontario. Unfortunately someone else wanted it more than me, when my house was broken into. One unique feature of it was that it had a cheekpiece on both sides of the butt stock

Epps list 3 single shot Sopers in stock. These by W.H. of London, Ontario. A few years ago they had a double barrel with underhammers. I think they referred to it as a "mule's ears"?.

Tagged. I have a couple of percussion Soper rifles. A Philo and the other is marked W.H. Soper and his son Richard as the makers. I think the OP is talking about the Breech loader though?

This is the gun the OP purchased ,like I said not an exact copy but a neat looking little gun.I at one time was interested in purchasing it myself.The lever on the bottom is for ejecting the spent case.If that gun had of been chambered in 22lr it would be sitting in my gun safe a long time ago lol

My Dad had one similar, only the one cheek piece though (as I remember) silver inlay squirrel on one side and had a back lock ... 40/45 cal if I remember.
Sadly it went to auction a couple months back.

I think mule ears are another name for side hammers. I don't think I have ever seen a double underhammer

Yes, the fuzziness of my memory has cleared a bit. The one I saw had stacked (o/u) barrels with hammers on the right side, not the underside.
(sorry to detract from the original post - the breechloading Soper design looks very interesting)
