I just received a letter from the CBSA informing me that the B5 Systems SOPMOD stock I had purchased from Brownells is a prohibited item because it is an AR-15 part? The letter quoted paragraph 117 of this doc this document. I'm more than a little perplexed because I thought the OIC specified upper and lower receivers were now prohibited devices. Since when is a plastic stock a prohibited device?
Did I miss something here?
Have any of you faced a similar situation recently?
Is there anything which may be done about this?

Thanks in advance!

It would seem that the CBSA have interpreted the import ban to include all parts that might possibly be used on an AR, rather than just AR-specific parts such as Upper Receivers. The B5 SOPMOD Buttstock is in fact, a multi-firearm part that can be readily employed as a retractable shotgun Buttstock. However, good luck convincing CBSA of that "inconvenient fact"....

Yes CBSA has taken its lead from the rcmpee and now makes up laws as it pleases. Currently they seem to feel any part than could fit any banned gun IE AR anything is prohibited from import.
Trying to reason with them is pointless in my experience.

It will somehow interfere with the massive stranglehold maneuver they are implementing on the shoulders of covid.

CBSA is an enemy of the people. Period.

We have over 90% of crime guns smuggled through their responsibility yet they spend time making up laws about folding knives and guns. They are criminals as far as I'm concerned at this point. Law abiding entities don't make up laws or their own interpretation of them. Criminals do.

Anyone else have issues recently?

Anyone get their stuff through after being seized? How did you do it?

I recently placed an order after asking if the border foolishness from CBSA had stopped... Hope my order makes it through.

I found a transcript of the 1 May OIC press conference. There is exactly ONE instance of the word AR-15, and none for AR15 or parts. But here is what came out of his mouth that day.

"Justin Trudeau: (04:26)
Today we are closing the market for military grade assault weapons in Canada. We are banning 1500 models and variants of these firearms by way of regulations. These weapons were designed for one purpose and one purpose only to kill the largest number of people in the shortest amount of time. There is no use and no place for such weapons in Canada. For many families, including many indigenous people, firearms are part of traditions passed down through generations and the vast majority of gun owners use them safely, responsibly, and in accordance with the law, whether it be for work, sport shooting, for collecting or for hunting, but you don’t need an AR-15 to bring down a deer. Effective immediately, it is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military grade assault weapons in this country. To protect law abiding gun owners from criminal liability until they can take steps to comply with this new law, there will be a two year amnesty period and we will legislate fair compensation."

By that language, parts are not firearms, only the CCC defined firearm cannot be imported.

PM me if you want to experience the entire 90+ minutes of social engineering.

Thanks all. I will attempt to appeal the seizure but based on comments here I'm not holding my breath.
I sure am glad that we are all being protected from that super scary modular stock!

Those guys are worse than the RCMP on their interpretations of law.

Rcmp sends cbsa bulletins of all the frt changes and what to consider prohibited by the oic. But this all falls back on to the liberals and trudeau who stated that the RCMP are the only entity in Canada that can decide firearms legalities. This rubber stamp by trudeau has given them carte blanche to do as they please until someone takes them to court.

I just got my Brownells order today, Ordered October 22nd, entered and left customs on October 30th, delivered on November 6th.

No duties or taxes, I ordered a couple pws ratcheting castle nuts and a sig short trigger.
