I should be going shooting tomorrow at CRAFM.
I'll let you know what the price is there.

Any tips to make it easier ?

I find myself grabbing stuff that I can easily identify first.
Such as the magnums and 30/30

Then Grabbing the longer non magnums 30/06 , 270 25/06 etc

But it is still quite time consuming , made worse by a few that have the head stamps covered over with dirt...

I just give them to my wife, she sorts by caliber, deprimes and gives them back to me for stainless tumbling.
Once they are clean she takes all of them, sorts them then by brand and counts them.
We have in stock, nearly 50K pieces of both rife and pistol brass, that's not including the ones that have been shot and reloaded.

MEH! It's a hobby lol.

I use the brass sieves. I dump a mixed lot of brass in it sorts them with a little shaking and the dirt fall out the bottom with .22 casings. Takes around 10-15 minutes per 1000 brass. Worth the $50 I spent. Great little invention. It sorts rifle and pistol at same time. Easy enough to identify the difference per tray.

It would cost too much to get a wife just to sort brass.

Hahahaha!! Love your response.

I read some of these responses to the wife. She is of the mind that it's my hobby, it's my job. Mind you, she's working on making me a little brass sorter so I best keep her away from anything with lead.

Right now I am working through about 200 lbs worth of casings. Start with a magnet to get rid of the steel and then it's off to depriming. I sort as I deprime with one of those frankford arsenal hand deprimers. They work alright....ish. So far I've done over 2000 cases without breaking a pin. Done away with the guide to do mulitiple different calibres, and I always make sure that I'm not working on a Berdan primed case.
