Sorting thru some Ammo

So I received my package of brass from a CGN member. As I was going through it I found a large number of cartridges that had no marking on the primer. Meaning I think the primers are still live.

Also a bunch of the brass has red marking on the bottom. Im thinking these have been re-sized to 8mm. When I put them up to ones with no markings they look a hair shorter. I couldn't measure it with my caliper today. I need to get a new battery.

Yes, those are primed cases, bonus for you.

Many guys mark their cases with a sharpie so they can find their own on the range after shooting a match, I mark my rifle cases so I know which batch of brass a set of casing come from. The overall length difference is irelavant for pistol reloading, I doubt they have been resized to 8mm as I do not know of an 8mm pistol.

When you resize brass you reduce the diameter of the fired case by 2-3 thousands of an inch ~ 0.05mm

Correct me if I am wrong, but does 9x19 not headspace based on case length? Worth a check and a pause while someone with more experience with this round comes along.

if you are concerned about that case o n the left, bottom picture.. if the case it too long for some unknown reason; when the slide tries to lock, it wont. cycle it out and keep on going.
never ever ever, in a tonne of 9mm have my cases ever had to be trimmed.

I color code my rounds when I am round developing based on how much powder I dropped in them. The red stripe could be from the same purpose.
