Calling all CZ enthusiasts, owners, dealers, reps and anyone else that can give creditable information on the Canadian Edition CZ 75 SP01 Shadow.

If one "googles" a number of combinations of tags such as CZ 75, Shadow, Canadian Edition (CE) or SP 01 it appears there is not much in the way of information on the www.

I have searched for video, images, technical spec & pictures with not much coming back.

I contacted Dlask Arms, CZ UB (FN Sports - Jon Nicholls), CZ US, CZ Custom, Ceska Zabrojovak s.a via email and Facebook for information on the CE CZ 75 SP01 Shadow with little or no reply.

FN Sorts and Dlans didn't even reply to my email and they are supposedly the main contacts for CZ in Canada.

What I am trying to establish is what I am getting for my money compared to the regular Shadow. Also I would like to know how many we're made and if they are making anymore?

For example I contacted CZ Customs about who did the trigger job on the CE Shadow. The answer was nobody modified the CE Shadow at CZC. According to a firearms forum, the CE Shadows had a trigger job done by CZC......now we have a contradiction, amongst many relating to "what exactly" the difference is between the CE Shadow and a regular ($500 less) shadow.

Please help if you can comment with solid, factual information in the CZ 75 SP01 Shadow Canadian Edition.

Many thanks......I can get some sleep now?

2 people I shoot with regularly (read 1-2 times a week) have the Canadian shadows so I will poke them to have them comment in here and do my best in the mean time.

there are more than 1 type of CE shadow, I know of at least 2 ($1100 and $1500) the $1500 ones are what the people I shoot with have.

CE shadows are not modified, they are simply built to a higher level of precision and polishing at the CZ factory. This is what keeps IPSC happy with them. what you get on top of the regular shadow aside from the hand fitting (it is very nice and very well fit) is a blued finish instead of a painted finish, flush safety's (usually... I think the first ones didn't have them and I know the $1100 dont) medium thickness special CE aluminum grips (you get a different size on the $1100 but if they are thick or thin escapes me right now) AL base pads that match the grips, fibre optic rear sight (also not on the $1100 verion IIRC) the 85 combat or whatever the less sharp trigger is, and maybe the competition hammer.... that I cant remember either.

good gun but pricey... If it was my money I'd look at the shadowline instead

Many thanks for the 411 & appreciate the quick reply.

I guess I'm a sucker for the aesthetics, lets face it CZ do produce a very accurate gun right out of the box.the Candian Edition is very ###y IMHO.

It is frustrating that if you buy a Ford F-150 FX 4 2013 ecoboost than you do know the specifications in terms of fuel economy, engine size and torque. The y are all pretty much standard for that model.

With the Canadian Edition it seems there are CE's out there that have different safety's and different sights, different specs.

Would be nice to have a dedicated manual (CZ PAY ATTENTION) and also have the specifications such as numbers produced.

If you belong to a group of CZ "edition" owners (such as the CZ 75 SP01 World Champion Edition 333) at least you know there are only 333 genuine World Champion Editions out there.

I'm I making sence?

:)

Totally forgot to mention the finish difference between the regular Shadows and the CE/2012/13 ones. The frames for the specials are hand picked and have no pock marks, or other cosmetic flaws, the regular Shadows can and do have such flaws, but the finish will cover them up, and since they aren't affecting function no one notices (except me, on one of my backup guns, there is a flaw back where the right side safety detent pin sits).
The guns are also hand fitted at the factory (as they all are) but to a higher standard. The fit and finish on my CE is super tight, much much tighter than any of my other guns. Even after 20,000 or so rounds.
