This is one of the K98k's I was able to pick up at this years SOS in Louisville Kentucky. It was a walk in and I owe a huge thanks to my good friends Chris, Steve, and Mike for making it possible for me to add it to my letter block collection. Andrew, you did nothing.

Pretty standard early byf 44 but totally untouched and all original. It hadn't been taken apart in years until we inspected it on the hotel room. It even has it's original hood and rod in it. Milled take down discs, FN bolt, and a somewhat unusual for MO "f" marked recoil lug made by H. Karl Heise Machinenbau.

Definitely one of my more special K98k's. It's a reminder of an awesome trip and time spent with good friends.

A great Rifle JB thanks for showing. An untouched 71 year old rifle. Is this quality rifle common at shows like the one you attended?

There were several rifles of this quality at the show but the majority had issues. There were probably 6 or 7 byf 44's on the tables there but they all had issues that made them a pass for me. I did pick up one other which I will post up once it gets here but it's not a byf 44.

There were several bnz's, dot's, etc that were good rifles there as well.

Exactly what I wanted you to think.haha

Great carried condition. I wouldn't even clean it. Oil it and done.

Interesting recoil lug. And at least this one has a nice lam stock, unlike that other thing you picked up.

No, I know you helped out too. I just wanted to bug you a bit.

I've seen the "f" recoil lugs used on byf45's before but not this early. It is kind of interesting. I'd imagine you have some on your Gustloffs?

I do remember that one! Wow. Too bad there's no SOS this year.

Let's hope the quality keeps coming when the COVID lifts and show is back on as per normal.
