Anyone know if any Canadian retailers are offering an M4 profile 14.5" (not 16") chrome lined barrels in 1:7? Also ideal if it has an A2 FSB.

I know ATRS has 1:9 barrels that meet this description, but 1:7 would be ideal.

I have a WT for a Norinco takeoff in the EE, but I doubt many Norinco buyers upgrade the bbl :(

And I'm not buying a CQ-A just to rob the bbl.

Any ideas?

Questar had them in the past, more than a year ago. True mil-spec barrel assemblies in 11.5" and 14.5".

The ITAR probably prevented them from getting new ones from the U.S. and is probably why they are pretty damn rare right now anywhere in the country.

we should try to convince Questar to make a 2nd batch; I've got one of the 11.5" from the 1st and it's a keeper for sure. I'm in if they make more :)

I also have the 11.5 and it's great but I'd really like to know who makes it (or more about it's makeup).

I thought the Norcs were 1:9 anyway?

I'd talk to Walt at Arms East. He's had special barrels made in the past and I know that he has expressed interest in the dimensions for the C8 profile. He just might help you out because he wants one too. Let me know what he says as I may jump in on getting a barrel made as well.

See what I mean about keeping this all in thread? You could let us watch your quest to recreate an accurate C8 clone.

I'm not too worried about profile. I run a small machine shop on the side - we have the technology, and a parkerizing tank too...

But no, I'm not planning on doing these for others at this point. I need to get myself sorted out first and prove the concept... ;)

I need to start with a chrome-lined 14.5" though as I don't have a firearm manufacturing license so I can;t legally shorten a 16" barrel. Seems only 1:9 is available so I may use that out of desperation.

In that case I'd get in touch with BBB at S&J hardware and see if you can snag one his 14.5" off the next batch. Great prices, especially for a project barrel. New ones are supposed to have A2 FSB available as an option.

Front Sight Base for the M16A2 (and other ARs).

The ones intended for use with flat top upper receivers should also be "F" marked, although not absolutely necessary, as you can use a longer front sight post with non "F" marked fixed FSBs.

Regards.
