Hi,

So after scrounging parts to desporterize my 1916 BSA SMLE for around a year I've decided I'd actually like to shoot the thing!

But all I can find online is full ammunition. I've got a kit and have reloaded some rounds for it, but now I'm running low on bullets. Would like to find some .311" bullets 150 - 180gr just for plinking.

Thanks!

I thought the .311 bullets at both sponsors were boat tails?

If they are boat tails they will tend to be inaccurate in enfield rifling. Enfields tend to only shoot well with flat based bullets. At least all of mine do.

Here's the best source of .311-.312 plinking bullets you'll find:

I usually buy molds from ebay :S Unless I see one on here or at the local shop (doubtful). Just way easier to get and usually cheaper too.

I also usually buy lee molds, because they're cheaper, cast well, and come with handles, where the more expensive ones don't.

I've used the 311-100-2r (in the 32/20 section), both the c312-155-2r and the ctl312-160-26 (under 7.62x39) and the c312-185-1r (under .303) all sized .312. The 100 grain pistol bullets don't shoot worth a damn, the 7.62 bullets shoot decent (the tumble lube one better) and the 185 shoots the best with 25gr of 4227 :) With powder at $40/lb, primers at $44/1000 and brass at $30/100 reloaded 10 times each (conservative estimate using light cast loads, probably more in reality), it comes in under $5 for a box of 20.
