Hello,

Looking for some light loadings of 45 Long Colt to use in an older firearm. Does anyone sell them in or near Toronto, Ontario? Does anyone sell black powder loaded 45 Long Colt?

Thanks

Your best bet would be to reload your own, both for the cost savings and for being able to select loading formulas like BP or very light smokeless loadings that are a bit off the usual loading you'll find in commercial ammo.

Follow all the safety rules and published loading data always.

For BP you have to fill the cartridge right up to where the bullet seats, leaving no air gap. Not sure many places still carry it, but I found some years ago at Williams up in Port Perry. Note that BP burns more violently than the modern stuff, so actually pay attention to all the safety rules when you're handling it.

For very light smokeless loadings, Trail Boss seems to be the powder of choice, and stay at the recommended starting load.

Thanks for the ideas, I have worked extensively with BP before, I was hoping to not have to reload seeing as I will need to buy the press and dies etc all over again, and I will probably shoot less than 50 rounds a year out of the gun.

Thanks though

Good luck finding bp loads. Almost any proper gun store carries cowboy loads these days. I think even bass pro and cabela's carry them. It has had a big resurgence because of cowboy action shooting and isn't hard to find. I go through several thousand rounds a year, so it's reloading only for me.
