Does anyone know where I can source a 23 inch 7.62x39mm barrel blank in Canada at a reasonable price? If so, what would the optimal bore diameter be for a 7.62x39 rifle using surplus ammo?
Don't know what you are planning on doing with it, what external size you need, but a .303 barrel, or one from a Mosin Nagant would work from the standpoint of bore diameter.
Optimal bore would be .3105. As tiriaq mentioned, if you can find a nice tight Mosin (.311) or Enfield barrel (~.312) that would also work. Make sure you slug the bore as some of the potential donor rifles might be as large as .316 for bore.
