i need a bunch of 10-24 in various lengths for some 1913 rail stuff i've made. i want 1.5" and i'll turn them down to length

the industrial supplier i deal with with work and personally doesn't carry slotted pan heads (let alone black oxide)

as well i need some 6-32 slotted setscrews for some sights i've made

any offhand experience in the lowermainland where i can find these?

mcmaster carr has only zinc coated slotted panheads, truss, and no slotted steel setscrews

unless i get s/s and find a way to blacken it, or maybe just paint the heads...or buy whatever random bolts, mill into pan-heads, then put a slot in there with a slitting saw, then cold blue the heads....huff, but i'd rather buy what i NEED in bulk so i have a collection

i dont know why these are so hard to source...the salemens i deal with told me "they dont make them." ...tell that to magpul....

I'm wondering why you would want slotted pan head then eyed your name, ha. I like torx but the socket heads are usually too large and pan head torx seem hard to find. Brownells has them. I did search one time in Atlantic Canada and there was not much in stock, for the effort it isn't worth it, I order from Brownells.

Haha. Hex in hexbasher is a reference with nothing to do with fasteners but the irony isn't lost on me

I want slotted because I may not always have an Allen key set handy and a dime can always work

If you ever get across the border to Bellingham, check out Hardware Sales on James St. (hardwaresales.net), just down the street from Trader Joe's. It's a pretty amazing place. I'm not sure they'd have them in slotted black oxide but they darn near have everything else! (Note that they're closed on Sunday.) If they don't have it, they can likely get it.

You could also check with the local Fastenal outlet. You'd have to buy package quantities, though, ie box of 100. There is also Sabre Industrial in Langley.
