Source for IDPA targets in Canada?

The IPSC Metric targets found at the DoubleTap link are not exactly the same as "official IDPA targets" requested by the OP.

It's also pretty bad that all these organizations use slightly different targets. It would be so nice if they all standardize on one design. But, people being people, that'll never happen.

We can get them through Comp-Tac as we already buy from them - but we'd have to get a lot to make it worthwhile and we won't have that space until we move to our larger warehouse in May... and these are current, official, IDPA targets.

We'd be happy to receive any expressions of interest from clubs or individuals beforehand.

Not really possible because the scoring rules are very different between the various sports.

Our club tends to buy in bulk so I'd be interested in pricing up an order. Email enroute.

Most of the clubs that shoot IDPA in my area have members who frequent the US for work or pleasure and often pickup a truck-load now-and-then. No one I have heard from has been able to find a reliable, consistent source in Canada.

IDPA and IPSC both use three scoring zones so it's possible. In some local 3-gun matches they use IDPA targets for pistol and IPSC targets for rifle and score the whole thing with the IDPA points-down system. With the severe animosity between the two sports in some regions, it wouldn't go over well.

In both cases you're talking about changes to their rules, i.e. creating a uniform set of scoring rules that would accommodate a common target set, or creating a uniform target (also a rule change). So, no.

Check with the Area Coordinator. He should be able to out you on to a target supplier. We get outs from the Alberta tactical Handgun League. They are an official supplier. I think there are two in Ontario.

Take Care

I'm not sure what you meant. My example with some 3-gun matches was just that both targets can be used with one scoring system. An IDPA target could be scored with IPSC scoring just replacing 0, -1, and -3 with alpha, charlie, and delta. And vice-versa for using an IPSC target with IDPA scoring. In ad-hoc practice we've swapped back and forth before on the targets depending what we have on hand. It's not the best practice as you are shooting at a target with a different layout but it's possible in a pinch (not at a match obviously).

It's all moot as neither sport would change their rules to allow the others targets.

As long as every competitor in a given match is shooting at the same targets what difference does it make if argets dimensions are slightly different?

Exactly. Not the best approach and requires a rule change.

You could play softball with a baseball but why?
