Source For Inexpensive Chinese Type-56 Military SKS?

Hi there!

I've been looking for a source for a Chinese, Military made SKS for both myself and a friend, for a reasonable price. Do they still command a lesser price than a Russian SKS? Who is selling them?

I am afraid you need a time machine. For the moment at least, Chinese SKSs have dried up and are now going for more than the Russians. Who would have guessed?
 
Wow... that's incredible... just goes to show that anything regardless of make or quality, when of low quantity, becomes expensive! Well if anyone has one and wants to part with it for a fair price drop me a line, no wonder I could not find a company selling them!

Maybe you should research the topic more. Chinese aren't low quality when you compare military grade to Russian. Often the Chinese military grade are better more accurate shooters.

They were cheaper in price due to quantity. Not quality.
 
He said regardless of make or quality. Not make and quality. He also said "anything" so not limited to the rifle being discussed.
 
Marstar used to carry Chinese SKS's, I think Canada Ammo may have had some as well.

I haven't been to either site in awhile, so don't know if they still have any.

Might be worth checking out.
 
Thanks all, so far. For the record I know that Chinese SKS' are excellent rifles most of the time and thus my comment of regardless of quality, when quantity runs out it becomes more expensive to own anything, be it made of gold or iron. Didn't think I had to explain the English prose, as a more careful reading would have benefited you more, sir. :)
 
Chinese ones are good, Russian ones are good. Even at $350 SKS are a good value... however, if looking for a plain looking "shooter grade" to use a lot, I'd be getting the cheaper rifles. Back when Chinese SKS were $125-150, that'd be the one to get. But since Chinese are now $300+, Russian SKS in the $200-240 range makes more sense.

The exceptions of course are the special collectibles, like Yugos, really beautiful Russians, NIB Chinese, and SKS-D.
 
I bought a Chinese SKS for 149$ 2-3 years ago..... I can say that my Chinese SKS was very well made and on par with Russian made SKS.

We all know that the price of SKS was on the low side just like any other surplus rifles at one time. When the supply dried up the prices increase. We'll see 400 SKS in a few years.
 
Funny... not 3 months ago I spoke to a gentleman at the range who said that "I spent $650.00 to import an SKS from Russia, back during the Cold War. I just had to have one, as no one had them and it was an awesome gun! Now, you can get them anywhere and I swear, when the first boatloads came in for $175.00 each, I was ripping out my hair!"

Interesting to put things into perspective. Soon, SKS' may well be that much again!
 
I like the Chicom SKS because they are all matching and are essentially brand new from the factory. A few years back, I went in on the 3 pack offer from Frontier Firearms with 2 of my buddies. Cost me about $190 or so....

The horsemen are reporting on a specific sequence of finger actions on a particular model from a particular Russian factory which MIGHT cause a problem. Unless yours fits that narrowest of groups, there is nothing to worry about for the huge majority of SKS owners.
 
my first SKS (not my first rifle) was a Chinese SKS from factory 26 a decade ago, I have since bot and sold 20 Chinese, Russian and Yugo but I wont get rid of this factory 26 SKS.

its like my first true love , lol.
