Armco recently had a STI 1911 with a Marvel 22 conversion unit and I would like to know if anyone knows of a source for these. They claim 1" groups at 50yds with certain ammo. Nighthawk Custom sell them in the US for $450.00 but I doubt an individual could import one.

And yes, I contacted Gunnar ;) TC

Marvel Precision will not export their products. If you are traveling you could buy one and bring it back. Mine was purchased from another old shooter who bought it at Camp Perry. Unit 1 accuracy is usually around 1/2 inch at 50 yards, mine was tested at .313 inch. The closest you can get to the Unit 1 is the STI /Advantage Arms target version which, like the original, was designed by Bob Marvel. Bullseye shooters down south favor the Unit 1, but so far the AA versions have not been successful in competition. As noted Freedom Arms markets the AA version.

Thanks for the replies, I guess that is what I'm looking for. T&G if these conversions are not "Camp Perry" quality do you know if they are in the same "category" as a S&W M41 or a Browning Medalist? If they are than a AA conv. would save me about $500 over one of these two. I have a 9mm Spartan with a very good trigger that I love and a quality 22 conv. would be a nice complement for this gun rather than getting a GSG or Colt 22. TC

Yeah, the AA conversions probably run in the M41 range, guess an inch or so until someone puts a few in the ransom rest and tests with a bunch of different brands of ammo.
