This may be lost cause but does anyone know where a person can find a NEF handi rifle chambered for 44 mag. ( If such a thing exists ) I am hoping to find a new one as I have a pile of ammo to plink and hunt with.

Marlin an Win have some great levers in this but I wanted something cheap so if anyone has suggestions as to a rifle in the same price range as the Handi's your input would be greatly appreciated.

Hard to find, Powder! NEF stopped production of the 44mag. You may want to look for a H&R Shikari in 44mag. I found one recently in exellent condition. I guess they are pretty and very accurate rifles with a muzzleloader feel to it. Good luck!

Here is a photo for you:

That is the oddest thing I've seen. Is that a center fire 44 mag with a ramrod ? Sure looks like what I'm looking for. Where did you find yours ?

Found her here in this bar!:p
It's a cleaning rod that has to be unscrewed and extended to use it.
Has a folding rear sight. Recoil is very light (heavy rifle!). The hinge is a bit lose though, but that is normal for a H&R single shot. After closing the action she is solid as a tank. Shikari 44mg - also called the [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]model 158 which was available in 30-30 ,357 and 44 mag between 1972 and 1982. Trigger is very rough, hard to pull, but safe for hunting.

I'm looking for a

The 44 mag is still on there website so you should be able to find one I think SIR stocks them. One problem with the 44 mag is that they seem to be notoriously over bored so accuracy is a little questionable though. Good enough for a plinker and hunter considering the range 44 mag is capable of.

Years ago my buddy sent his NEF back to the USA for work.So I had him order a 44 mag barrel for his gun when it was down there & I put it on mine when he got it back.Around $75 I think.DAN>>>

Hey, that .45 Colt is a bit of alright. The .44 mag too, should be a fun plinker. Anyone ever hear more on the .500 S&W NEF? A couple of guys here ordered them when they were announced but have not got them. Anyone know about availability on the .500 and .45 Colt?

The BC 45 colt is new I am not sure they are available stateside yet. the 500 SW are supposed tp be OK they are supposidly quite the filling rattler. Another one to watch for is the 444 marlin new this year too. I bet it will be better part of a year after they release in the US before they show up here.
