EDIT: Update and great news in post #37! :)

Ok, so with the new "think of the children" Lieberal Bill C-71 presumably targeting "street gangs and their guns" by going after the law-abiding hunter/target shooter AGAIN, it is pretty clear that all CZ-858's are about to become $1400 safe queens that you won't be able to sell to non-12(9) license holders down the road. Translation: their value will tank!

The proposed solution:
sponsors should manufacture or import new non-restricted receivers and offer gunsmith services to transfer the barrel / trigger group onto the new receivers at a fair price, preferably before the new "law" receives its' full harassment powers (a.k.a. royal assent).

CSA's Vz-58 and WR762 receivers come to mind (NR status). Any sponsors interested in making quite a bit of coin?

Like stated in other threads. Just change the markings on the Cz858 to Vz58 markings.

Pretty simple solution to a simple problem.

They would still know by the serial number range, if it were ever inspected. My question was about the 100% legit option and keeping it hassle-free... well, at least for now.

Can you say CSA clone thread.. Never thought Id ever hear that...

But if the libetards want to play games. Im ready to play.

You would think that someone would take this opportunity to make coin, but.....this is Canada....home of the timid. An American entrepreneur would jump at the chance.....but again this is Canada...home of the timid.

This falls into the category of greasey. But I guess how would they know? Bead blast, clean up machining marks and coat the receiver, instant CSA. Maybe touch up that weld mark inside a little

If you pour acid over the area where markings were defaced, they'll pop right up (due to metal compression in that area). That's how they can tell serial numbers on guns which had numbers filed off.

So yeah....

Not so sure about that. This is terrible news for some (actual CZ858 owners), but a HUGE business opportunity for those who already manufacture their own NR Vz-58 receivers. I'm sure Westrifle, North Sylva or Wolverine wouldn't be too "timid" about making money on a rifle they have so much experience with.

Im a stand up citizen. And obey all laws of the land. The RCMP have better things to do :)

I know how you feel, lol! ;)

Still, this game is political at this point... and the police brass have to obey their political masters, just ask any Chief or station Commander. So it's totally within the realm of possibility that they'll divert resources from actual crime investigations to make sure your CSA is the "real deal" and not an evil "CZ858 prohib".

Priorities, you know.... :jerkit:

Anyway, if any actual sponsors could chime in on the possibility of providing NR receivers and a gunsmithing service to transplant the barrel, that would be awesome!

;)

I think Ill start a go fund me account. See how much money I cAn raise for concrete and reebar. And deliver my block of reinforced concrete to the rcmp office for proper disposal of my prohib receiver.

I am praying you are right.....
